Responding to today's speech by the Home Secretary, Owen Sharp, Interim Chief Executive of Victim Support, said: “Anti-social behaviour can have a corrosive effect on people and communities and a devastating impact on their lives. Victims of crime and anti-social behaviour want to see it stop and stop for good. So, any steps to get the police, councils and community groups working together to tackle its causes and effects has got to be welcomed.
“We echo Theresa May’s comments that anti-social behaviour orders aren’t a silver bullet, but there has to be a recognition that sometimes to get anti-social behaviour to stop then sanctions such as ASBOs are needed. We look forward to working with the government to ensure effective sanctions and positive solutions are put in place to tackle anti-social behaviour.”
