One gift. A lifetime of impact.

Leaving a gift in your will is one of the most powerful ways to support our work.

Gifts in wills help us offer long-term support, fund innovative new services, and reach those who need us most – especially now, when the cost of living is rising and donations are falling.

Thanks to one generous legacy donor, we launched WeMatter, a pioneering service for children affected by domestic abuse in Brent. Today, that same project supports children across the country – proof that just one gift can change thousands of lives.

Gifts in wills make a real difference

  • They fund 20% of our non-statutory income.
  • They helped launch our flagship service, WeMatter, in London.
  • They provide support for over 4,000 victims and witnesses every year.

The most usual gifts are:

  1. A specific sum of money – any amount that suits your situation and circumstances.
  2. A percentage of your estate – you can leave as little as 1% to Victim Support, leaving 99% to your loved ones.
  3. Donations instead of flowers at your funeral – this can be included in your will or in a letter of wishes.

Yes, and often in a good way. Gifts to registered UK charities are exempt from inheritance tax. That means anything you leave to Victim Support won’t count towards the taxable value of your estate.

If you leave 10% or more of your estate to charity, your tax rate may reduce from 40% to 36% – benefitting both your loved ones and the causes you care about.

We always recommend speaking to a solicitor or financial adviser when planning a gift to explore how this can impact your estate planning.
