Victim Support Europe
Victim Support Europe was founded in 1990 and is an umbrella network of 40 national organisations that provide support to more than two million people affected by crime each year in 26 countries across Europe.
The vision of Victim Support Europe is to be the voice of victims in Europe, with the belief that all victims of crime are entitled to support, irrespective of the nature of the crime or where it took place.
By assisting with the active development of victim-centred support services, which are free of charge, confidential and accessible to all victims of crime, Victim Support Europe is working to promote and establish excellent victim services across Europe.
Victim Support Europe has worked closely with the European Commission, European Parliament and EU agencies on the development of an EU directive establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims in Europe, through advocating the needs of victims. This is a great achievement exemplifies the network’s influence on public policy making at a European level.
Victim Support is a member of Victim Support Europe. Through this collaboration, we work in partnership with key European bodies as well as national stakeholders to promote and strengthen networks through the exchange of information, experience and best practice. We also influence policy across Europe by highlighting the needs and rights of victims of crime.
