Victims and Survivors Conference Event
In January 2024, Victim Support Lincolnshire hosted the Victim and Survivors Conference Event in partnership with the OPCC of Lincolnshire. The conference took place in Lincoln and focussed on strengthening the relationships between partner agencies that support victims and survivors of crime in the county. Speakers from various services introduced their organisation’s role and purpose, and the conference has led to professional networks being refreshed. A highlight was the networking lunch that took place among stalls from agencies to facilitate collaborative discussion and identify areas of partnership working. The conference was fruitful and celebrated the services in place for victims and survivors within Lincolnshire.
Partnership with Stop Loan Sharks England
We have worked in collaboration with Stop Loan Sharks England and have become an officially recognised partner of the Illegal Money Lending Team. Through various training sessions, multiple awareness campaigns, and facilitation of statement taking in our local offices, our team has increased knowledge of loan sharks, their impact on communities, and how to identify and better support potential victims. We are proud to have been awarded the partnership recognition with Stop Loan Sharks England and continue to work closely with them.
50 Years of Victim Support – what did staff have to say?
2024 indicates 50 years of Victim Support! To celebrate in Lincolnshire, we have been talking to our staff members to hear what they think, and highlighting key pieces of feedback from service users that demonstrates the importance of our service. Here are some snippets of what they said:
Caseworker, Multicrime Service Users
“Thank you and thank you for your invaluable support and helping me move forward to feeling in a safer place in life again.” (Michelle’s case)
“Right from the beginning you were very calm and understanding and you really listened to me. You let me cry and never ever judged me. Before we spoke I did not know how to explain or even understand myself what I was going through. You took the time to explain to me what is classed as stalking and assured me that what was happening to me was not my fault and that I was a victim of stalking.” (Izzy’s case)
CHISVA, Multicrime Service Users
“Thank you for being so understanding and not for being like someone in a white coat who doesn’t listen – you have put things to me that I can understand better. You sound so kind on the phone and I will be very happy for my daughter to get some help from your service.”
“Thank you so much for all your help and support I am going to miss our visits I have found it really easy to talk to you.”
Operations Manager
“I started at Victim Support as a CHISVA and feel incredibly lucky to now be an Operations Manager for two divisions of the business. From my first day to today, I have always felt honoured to work at such a wonderful organisation with so much heart at its core. I am proud of my teams and the services we have built to offer out to our community in the most difficult and traumatic of times. We will continue to fight for the rights and respect that victims deserve, advocate for our clients and support one another as colleagues – hopefully for another 50 years!”
Senior CHISVA, The Castle Service
“Working for Victim support has been a privilege, putting the child at the centre of everything we do, being able to support and empower them and watch them grow as a person can be really rewarding. Also being able to inform and advocate on their behalf if needed to ensure their rights and wishes are upheld. Knowing that we are there for children and their families in the most difficult times, even though they may not get the outcome that they would like but being able to validate, listen and support them in the way that they would like, I know helps them to start their journey of recovery and I am very proud to be a part of that. I started just over a year ago as a CHISVA, and have recently been promoted to senior CHISVA. I never have two days the same and I never get that Friday feeling in this job that I used to get in others. I am passionate about championing the rights of victims and supporting the team to ensure the best outcome for the child. Long may the service continue to improve the outcomes for children across Lincolnshire hopefully for another 50 years and beyond. Thank you Victim Support for enabling me and my team to be a part of this amazing service and for championing the voice of the victim”.
Senior Case Worker, Multi-crime Service
“I have worked for Victim Support for the last 8 years, supporting children and adults who have experienced various crimes. I am truly grateful to work for an organisation that offers valuable support to all victims of crime. I enjoy every day and I’m very passionate about championing the rights of all victims that access our service”.
