VS responds to APCC announcement re victim services funding

22 January 2016

Victim Support responds to the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) announcement today that it has had no confirmation about funding for victim services from April 2016.

Mark Castle, Chief Executive for independent charity Victim Support, said:

“It is vitally important that frontline services for victims are protected and put on a sustainable footing. Victims need to be assured that they will always have somewhere to turn for help and support after crime.

“We have been in close contact with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) on this issue, and understand that Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) will learn of their new funding settlements within the next couple of days.

“As soon as the funding settlements are known, we will be following up with the MoJ and PCCs – in particular to seek assurance that all funds allocated for victim services will be spent directly on frontline support for victims.”
