Victim Support has been ranked number 10, the organisation’s highest placing yet, in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index. Due to being in the top 20 for the last three years, the organisation also has been given ‘Star Performer’ status. ‘Top Trans Employer’ status has also been conferred – only 11 organisations have been awarded this recognition.
Natasha Broomfield-Reid and Jessica Rees attended the awards ceremony on 31 January to acknowledge the work staff and volunteers across the organisation have done to ensure LGBT+ staff, volunteers and service users can be their authentic self and access support which meets their needs.
Natasha said: “It was a great night and wonderful to be surrounded by people who truly value diversity and inclusion. It was so inspiring to hear from those who received awards and the work they had done to embed LGBT+ equality. It was also brilliant to see Victim Support’s name as a top 10 organisation!”
Contract Account Manager and Senior LGBT+ Champion, David Naylor, said: “Victim Support has continued to work to enhance awareness and understanding and embed LGBT+ equality across the organisation.
“We are very proud to have been a top Stonewall employer since 2010 and are delighted to be placed in the top 10. We know there is more work to be done and we will continue to ensure that our LGBT+ service users, staff and volunteers are supported effectively and are free to be their authentic selves.”
