Thank you for being a witness. I will keep you up to date with what is happening after you have given your evidence, and will talk to you about the verdict (whether the defendant is found guilty or not guilty) and what this means. I will support you after the trial, help you arrange your travel expenses and find you any extra help if you need it.
You can plan who will come to court with you, who will travel with you, and who will meet you there.
We will be waiting for you after you have given your evidence and will take you home.
If you need me to help explain the verdict after the trial, I may be able to do this. Speak to your young witness supporter to see if this can be arranged.
If you need me to help explain the verdict, the Witness Care Unit may use me to help explain this through language line, which interprets different languages over the telephone. I will not be the same person you met in court.
I may be able to continue to support you after the trial or help you find you any extra support if you need it.
After you have answered all the questions, your job is finished. The judge or magistrates will tell you when you can go, but you should be proud of what you have achieved. Without witnesses like you, courts wouldn't be able to work.
